Started in March of 1983 as Patrolman
Was appointed to the traffic division in 1985
Was a member of the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force from 1987 - 1990
Served on the High Risk Team in 1987
Was promoted to patrol Sergeant in 1991
Started the Mt. Vernon Police Department Narcotics Division in 1995, which has now become a Federal Task Force.
Became Chief of Police in 1998
Chief Mendenall is currently the President of the Police Pension Board.
He is the chairman of the 911 board.
He is on the board of directors at the Southern Illinois Crime Lab.
He is a board member of the Mobile Training Unit for our area.
He was a previous board member of the Amy Shultz Child Advocacy Center.
He sits on the Minority Affairs and Human Relations board.
