National Night Out is an event that takes place in communities across the Nation.  It is a celebration that allows the community to get to know the officers on a more personal level.  They have the opportunity to see and react with the officers in plain clothes and outside the no normal realm of law enforcement. 

The Mt. Vernon Police Department began hosting these events in 2004.  Each year it has been a complete success.  It is anticipated participation of the residents in our community will continue to grow in the future.
