Citizens Police Academy

The Citizens Police Academy will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 from 8:00am to 4:00pm at the Mt. Vernon Police Department. Topics covered in the academy will be telecommunications / dispatch, police academy, field training, patrol, investigations, K9, and HRT (SWAT). A tour of the new police department and demonstration of the virtual reality use of force simulator will be given. This will allow the participant to learn how the Mt. Vernon Police Department operates and have a better understanding of how policing works in Mt. Vernon. Register below by February 19th, 2026.
